At our different helping programmes at rail stations, rural areas, roadside slums, we have seen crisis of food, especially among the old and disabled street dwellers. On the other hand, we have noticed that in various social functions such as birthday party, get-together, marriage reception etc., plenty of food is wasted. It is extremely painful when we see poor people having the thrown out waste food from the garbage vat, together with the street dogs. Thus we have taken the initiative to distribute food which are in surplus at various restaurants or social functions, to the street children and old destitute, with an aim to prevent wastage of food as well as to prevent hunger.
We are in need of a car for this purpose which would be very helpful for us to look around for the actual hungry and helpless as these disbursement has to be done mostly at late night when conveyance is a major problem. Inspite of the problem, we are continuing the distribution either at late night or early in the morning and Hat Baralei Bondhu is now a well known name in food distribution and comes to the first position among other distributors in Kolkata and surrounding area.
